365 Days Aboard Marionette’s Revenge

Florida – Bout sums it up

Can you believe it? It’s already been one year since S/V Marionettes Revenge and crew left the marina dock in beautiful downtown Tarpon Springs!?!

One year since we were wished a heart warming “bon voyage” by all our new Florida friends.

One year of making new friends along the watery way. South to the warm Florida Keys, a quick trip to Bimini, Bahamas, the quiet lowland Carolinas, to Virginia and incredible Maryland.

We explored absolutely all we could bouncing across the Chesapeake Bay to check out all the historic towns and fishing villages we could possibly manage. And, even enjoyed downtown Baltimore’s endless sea of murder and mayhem. Kinda.

Towns like Coinjock, Beaufort, Tangier, Cape Charles, Eastport, and Oxford forever burn in our hearts and in our memories.

Then, the return trip south from Annapolis to Florida partially accompanied by Bill and Karen was a 6.5 knot blur. Cold weather, sudden hurricanes, and northerly winds chased us back to central Florida quicker than you can say Indiana Jones. Time to reprovision and make repairs. Plan ahead. Buy charts and do more repairs. Shit, more plans and provisioning! The list NEVER seems to end.

Where to next…?

Now, as we round out our first nautical trip around the sun with 4,000 + miles under our belt, we find ourselves lost in the tropical clutches of the sun kissed Bahamas.

More on that later.

What made this first year so special?

Easy. The people. The new friends we’ve made along our journey and all the friends who were willing to join us along the way.

Ok, the bottle nose dolphins, loggerhead turtles, nurse sharks, manatees, and stingrays who all greeted us in our blue/green watery travels were good too. But, hands down without a shadow of a doubt, its the great people in our aquatic lifestyle that have made all the difference in the world. There are literally too many of you to mention and I’d bore you to tears if I called them all out. But,…a few of you remain “life changers” (beards and hotdogs come to mind…not to mention a tough and gorgeous redheaded broad) and for all of you we are eternally greatful. Your travels to come visit with us, dine with us, tan with us, and purely “adventure” with us is absolutely immeasurable.

Thank you for your efforts, support, and encouraging words. Marionettes Revenge and her X, Y, and hairy chromosomes crew thank you from the bottom of our hearts and keel.

Here’s to another trip around the sun.
