Over the last two years I’ve had several inquisitive folk ask not only what does Marionette’s Revenge mean, but also the story behind the Godfather looking logo.
When we bought Marionettes Revenge her original name was simply Marionette, which we didn’t care for. At all. Not even a little. In fact someone asked Jana her name and then said “Like the creepy string puppet?”
“Yeah…..”
For many a month we tried to come up with a more fitting name for our new 40+ year old vessel. Since we both loathe the cutsie, whimsical “Gone With The Wind” and anything “Knot” related, we just could not, would not, go down that watery path. If you know me, I’m a slice dark for whimsical.
After making our trip from St. Maarten to central Florida, we just didn’t have the heart to take Marionette out of the name as she had kept us safe for so many miles under less than ideal circumstances.
Flash back to a good friend who as far as I’m concerned has coined the phrase “The best revenge is to live well” resonated with me due to a very ugly divorce. She got the mine, and I got the shaft comes to mind. So what better revenge than to now live well aboard our beautiful boat spending the next few years cruising to points unknown.
Also I may add that the logo reflects and escaped marionette, free from the strings that held her hostage. And since she was essentially abandoned and left on the hard, her revenge is to be back in the rolling sea where she belongs. I credit an amazing artist and friend named Craig Tilly for the artwork. So now the story has been unfurled, and whether you wanted to know or knot, now you do matey.
Perfect.
