Sarasota has never made my radar. Not once. Sarasota. Where?!
What an amazing stay we had. So good that an overnighter turned into 3 kinda magical nights. The marina and mooring field are situated in a bit of a horseshoe, so from the field our view was the twinkly downtown.
So many of the high rises were such beautiful architecture. Just outside the marina is a park full of dogwalkers, bicyclists, very, very old people, and lots of shade. Oh, and a rather interesting statue of an iconic picture.

As always there were dinghy adventures and naturally dinghy misadventures. Without pointing fingers (it was Jana) let’s just say I had to do my very best Michael Phelps impression to chase down a runaway dinghy. Quick as a flash I whipped off my sunglasses, tore off my shirt like a WWE wrestler, and heroically belly flopped into the salty Sarasota Bay. I believe the swim was 2 or 3 miles but Jana says more like 60 ft. Whatever. Fortunately some kind boat neighbors saw my early morning calisthenics and arrived at the dink the same time I did. With the boat safely retrieved I was able to return to my regularly scheduled coffee.
Review time…
We recently bought a small portable generator made by Onan from a local dealer.
2500 starting, 2200 running. Roundabout $800.00
Step 1.
Turn on the choke
Step 2.
Pull the cord and tear the pull cord in half.
Step 3.
Cuss like you just lost the ability to start your generator.
Step 4.
Apologize to your boat neighbors for loudly teaching them some new words.
Step 5.
Reach out to local dealer and get no assistance whatsoever.
Step 6.
Tear apart the generator like a turkey carcass post Thanksgiving.

Step 7.
Hop on your electric scooter and ride into da hood to get a new cord respun.
Step 8.
Successfully reassemble to nearly the same condition and wonder where the extra parts go.
All in all the generator has run great, but it’s a disappointment when the dealer says they don’t have the parts to repair and it may take a few weeks. Parts being a pull cord.
Other than that it was an uneventful few days. Weather..great. Boat, great. Company…best!!!
Hubby out, but stay tuned to hear about our connection with this big beast.

Wow sounds like you all are having a great time, be safe & careful & HAVE a HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON
